Question:
> > This is going to be terrible for planespotters. > the LAX 24L/R spotting area off Westchester Pkwy, which formerly had "no > stopping" signs posted that everyone cheerfully ignored, had two > motorcycle and one prowler LAPD officers sitting there yesterday > stuffing their faces and not allowing anyone to stop.
Sometimes it is difficult to take time off the job to get something to eat. I fail to see what this has to do with them being there. The area was secured, was it not?? Then they were doing their jobs.

KLAS has a settee area parallel to 25L/R, about 45ft from the numbers. I’d say it was about 25 – 30 ft. from the runway. Now, it’s blocked off with signs saying violators would be arrested, cited, and the car towed. KVGT (North Las Vegas) has its spotting area about 30 ft northwest on the 25 end of 7/25. it’s now closed, fenced off, and locked. BL. — Web + NewsMaster, BOFH.. Smeghead!

I was thinking about this same thing today as I was driving around MIA. They have closed down all the famous planespotting areas around the perimeter, permanently it seems, with big concrete highway dividers. I imagine other airports around the country are doing similar things. This is going to be terrible for planespotters. Leon –praying that they don’t close down the whole Perimeter Road permanently (it was closed down for a few days after the attacks).

Since people with darker skin or thick accents are being thrown off airplanes at airports, clearly this is a time when appearances dictate how people in authority will respond in uncertain situations. Therefore, the easiest solution is to be overly friendly and ingratiating when approached by authorities, be simplistically enthusiastic about what you are doing, dress like a commoner, volunteer too much information in a boring sort of way, and try (I am not being facetious) to appear more simpleminded than you actually are. This method has helped relatives of mine escape being arrested by East German border guards when contraband was found in a car crossing the border into Berlin, and from being sent to a Russian death camp in the process of interrogation following the defeat of Germany in WWII. Be friendly, nice, and just a touch simple.

Question for all you air travel and airline enthusiasts.. With the new rules put in place for travel, and in particular, the rule ragarding no-one being allowed no less than 30ft. from an airport runway, what would airplane, ATC, and aviation enthusiasts do for planespotting? The 30ft rule practically closes all the planespotting areas and settee areas at any airport, and do to arrival and departure corridor restrictions, you really can’t park any further away from the airport or viewing area, as you’d be in danger of being hit by a plane, should it crash. So… what now would the planespotter/enthusiast do? BL. — Web + NewsMaster, BOFH.. Smeghead!
