Hey Ellen! Byte me!!! – Before you buy.
Response:
It seems to me she said two things: 1. Posters with specific questions get more and better responses than posters with general questions. 2. This poster might find better answers to part of his question in other newsgroups, some of which she suggested. These are both true and constructive. They can be of genuine assistance to someone who’s new to newsgroups in general or to this one in particular. If you separate any preconceived notions of her or attitudes to her from the content of her post, I think you’ll agree that there was nothing at all out of line about it. She made no suggestion that Rick should not have made his original post. There was no attempt to censor or moderate anything. Your post – again if you look at it objectively, based purely on content and not what you know or think of the poster – is more of an attempt to act as a self-appointed moderator, by suggesting that her post was inappropriate, than hers was. Do you really care what anyone else thinks? If so, then please know that I find your obsession with Sheryl increasingly tedious and juvenile — and I am embarrassed for you. Please give it a rest.

Response:
If your questions have to do with the air travel portion of your trip, you’ll need to be more specific. If they have to do with the ground portion, rec.travel.usa-canada and/or newsgroups devoted to your interests would be the appropriate forums for you.

In terms of air travel, it all depends what terminal you will be coming in and out off. Since you’re from the UK, I would suspect you’ll be arriving on British Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways, American Airways, or United Airlines. All of these airlines arrive at Terminal E at Boston/Logan (the full name of the airport is General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport, and is colloquially known by locals as "Logan"). Departures are different: British and Virgin use Terminal E for departures, but United departs out of Terminal C, and American out of Terminal B. Terminal E at Logan is somewhat similar to controlled chaos, especially at peak periods (arrivals: 3:30pm-7pm, departures: 6pm-9pm). Unlike airports in the UK, Logan airport is poorly signed, cramped, and you’ll have a hard time finding anywhere to sit down. In addition, it’s undergoing significant construction, so it’s even worse than usual! You don’t mention how you’ll be getting to and from Logan airport, but if the answer is "car", my response is "avoid if possible!". Traffic in and out of Logan is crazy, especially from 3:30pm-7pm (typical, arrivals time), although it’s not quite as bad if you’re going directly north (on route 1) from the airport. Likewise, when returning to Logan, keep in mind that the whole city of Boston is under construction (no I’m not exaggerating), so allow PLENTY of time to arrive at the airport. You will be much less stressed, I promise. –Helen
