Air Travel

Question:

There are two types of bumps.  A voluntary bump is when a passenger agrees to give up his seat because the flight is overbooked.  An involuntary bump is when the airline cannot give you the seat you have paid for because they are overbooked and they do not have enough people who will take a voluntary bump. In return for being bumped (different rules apply for voluntary vs. involuntary) the airline will usually issue a voucher for future travel on that airline (usually expiring one year from date of issue).  That voucher can either be for a specific dollar amount or for a domestic roundtrip or an international roundtrip.
